mPN2 test run begins..
 Posted on Wednesday, December 18 2002 @ 01:54:54 CETby trini0
myPHPNuke Read on for more...

I have made a "Problems" forum at the test site. Please post problems there. I have to run out probably for the rest of the day, and wouldn't have access to a computer, so Ill catch up when I get back...

As I said in my last posting, today mPN2 is viewable by the public to get your comments/criticisms.
Its currently running off a PostgreSQL database. Its wasn't heavily tested before, but here is its big chance.
Maybe next week before Christmas, Ill try and have the "Anti Open Source" side of mPN2 running on IIS/MSSQL for the likes of SwingDancer and company (depends on if w2k cooperates with me).
Its also only running with the english translations, because, the Dutch and Thai translations are not uptodate. If avw or xcalibre would like to show off what they have thus far, Ill enable them.
Yes, I know html/css is no where up to par, but hopefully that will be resolved soon.
kenegan, espart, & s10v8com, when you register at the site, PM me here, so Ill make you admin for you to critique the admin section and report back.
Thanks for all your opinions....

I get this error when I try to register:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare email_address_exists() (previously declared in /files/www/data/test/modules/user/functions.php:17) in /files/www/data/test/modules/user/functions.php on line 17

And it apparently stores the information because then if I try again I get Invalid Username and Invalid Email address error warnings. However, when I try to login, it says:

No such user. Please try again

Stumble at the first hurdle.

The only problem I had registering was that I couldn't use my yahoo e-mail address - system said it's on the blocked list (?). Went smoothly from there w/ a different addy.

The only other problem I've run into so far is when I go to Downloads I get this message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: opentable() in /files/www/data/test/modules/download/index.php on line 5

Other than that....QUITE IMPRESSIVE!

My thoughts

- I really thought the log-in page was great, major difference from the recent one, with a better layout.

- Liked the email confirmation feature. This will prevent alot of member accounts that never get used.

- I like the ability to upload new avatars, but i believe you should also keep the old avatars, in case members don't have any of their own.. they can choose one from the list thats already in mpn.

- Whose online block, alot better. Also liked the new top10 page.

- Forums alot better, and i like the features. But i can't seem to find the forum page numbers, for the different pages in the forums.

- Didn't really think the news page looked to great, looks kinda cluttered.. unless thats just the theme.

All in all... i can't wait to use it lol. Keep up the good work, and thanks for providing us with a way to enhance out sites.

the new sign up page is much improved,
the idea of users validating their acounts by email is a great system, as is the email password feature.

the ability for users to create their own passwords on signing up is a much better system,
and users to being able to choose their own timezone is a great idea.

i would like to see an improved users profile page,
perhaps with a layout similar to that used by Xoops.
(less "nuke" looking)
and it would be nice to see your own profile, without having to click on your username in the memberlist.

i'm not sure about the new "who's online" block, i think the current 1.8x system is better.

overall MPN2 seems fantasic, i would love to hear some feedback from those who got the chance to view the admin area.

MPN2 just needs a really kick ass theme to give it that "wow!" factor.

-Who's Online look is not cool
i like the old one.
-the http://test1.trini0.org:81/modules/user/index.php?op=register
it's not as good as the old one too the user Terms of Service is cool with the agree thing but it does not ask for msn aim or icq like the old one i think we can mang both with a icon for ever thing like icq icon when you ask for icq # and so on.
-i think submit should be disable until he click on agree .
-the random passwd was GR8 so no one can hack into users acount's ( i hope that can be mange by admins )
-when the user login the ( Create an account ) in the top right should be remove and replace with welcome $username i think so..
( oh btw i think this icq# and this things are in the edituser but it was cool in the register too donno it may coz i don't get use to it yet )

All the HTML and layout will be done as soon as I get my end of the 1.9x version of MPN done. There will be a complete restructuring of the front end layout and options for customization in mPN2 along with complete CSS integration and valid XHTML code.
