In the Headlines section you can activate or deactivate Headlines that are displayed in the Headlines block. The Headlines grabber works only for RDF/XML files, plain text files will not work. MyPHPNuke inherited an extensive headline database from PHPNuke, so in order to display headlines from one of the sites in the list, activate that site. MPN 188 default installs myPHPNuke.com headlines on the lower right of your mainpage so if you don't want these headlines displayed you will have to deactivate it. Headlines are automatically updated every hour.
Note: In some cases, activating the headlines block can slow down page loads, especially when the scrolling option is enabled. Please don't edit the code to decrease the update time! Webmasters don't like other webmasters abusing their bandwidth. Furthermore, how many sites do you know that update their news every hour?
To add a new Headline to the database enter name of the site, the URL for the site, and the absolute path to the RDF/XML file. The Status of the headline can be Active or Inactive (Inactive is default). If you wish to activate the new headline change the status to "active" before saving.
To change the status for one headline, use theEdit option and select the desired status. You can also edit the other fields here as well.
To delete a headline click on the Delete option.
Note: The scrolling option for Headlines is set in myPHPNuke preferences. Look for Display headlines in a scrolling box.
